Industrial chic

My best friend's sister, Addie,  just moved into a warehouse apartment and has been lamenting the drab industrial decor. They own the warehouse, but will only be living there short term, so it doesn't make sense to do any radical upgrades to the apartment itself. When I ran across this pic I knew it was for her. A little white paint on the floor and walls accented with a bright  funky patchwork couch would cheer up the darkest of places. The faux wallpaper mantel gives the eye somewhere to rest and shows off the fabulous height of industrial casas. Ditto for the curtains. Two simple chairs rounds out the funky vibe.

How to make this room on the cheap:
On a budget, you could make a patchwork slipcover from remnants on etsy. These Amy Butler fat quarters would work great. Toss it over a goodwill couch/craigslist/ikea sofa. A staple gun and handful of mismatched buttons would be a fun tuffeted finish-out.

White paint is your friend. A cheap friend.

Unfortunately, the Orla Kiely wallpaper is not cheap, but oh, so cool. Actually, everything at Orla Keily is TDF.

Throw in a couple of these chairs from eurway and you're set.

Any of these curtains from World Market would be great.

Pick up a flea market chandelier and viola! Instant home, sweet Anthropologie home.

Home is where it feels right to walk around without shoes.
